Koi pond liners
are different from other garden pond liners in a few ways. One of the
most important ways is the safety of the koi pond liner versus other
pond liners. Because you have living animals in your pond, you want
to make sure that you have a pond liner that is not toxic to the Koi
fish or other fish you may have in your pond. This is the number one
difference between Koi pond liners and other liners.
Koi pond liners that are deemed safe for Koi and other fish are the
flexible pond liners: EPDM, PVC, Polyethylene, and UltraGuard. Other
Koi pond liners that can be used are the rigid plastic and the fiberglass
pond liners. Concrete pond liners are not recommended as they release
toxins that are dangerous to the Koi and other fish. When searching
for Koi pond liners, search for the term aquatic safe, or non-toxic.
That way you know you are getting a pond liner that is safe for your
fish.
